Overview

Simply Signings central aim is to promote the use of Irish Sign Language with all children, support early development of infants throughout Ireland, taking into account the need for early intervention for children with a hearing impairment. To provide workshops and courses to parents and care professionals enabling a skill and competency in the use of Irish Sign Language within a child centred environment. This will promote inclusiveness, enhance communication and develop understanding.
Simply Signing seeks to facilitate:

• Increased knowledge about language development and Irish Sign Language with all children from birth  to primary school age
• To provide resources in Irish Sign Language to educational environments
• To support  the introduction of Irish Sign Language in parenting and caregiving environments
• The National cooperation of professionals concerned with promoting the best possible development of infants and children with a hearing impairment, as well as supporting positive mental health in the early years
• Aspects of research, education and interventions in the above areas

• Publishing children’s books and school resources introducing Irish Sign Language and Deaf culture
• Supporting existing learners and tutors

• Collaborating with other organizations;
• Establishing task forces, study groups and committees;
• Carrying out special projects.
